RE: COMMISSIONING OF EDO FERTILIZER PLANT
It’s funny that the former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole through One Victor Oshioke claimed the fertilizer processing plant at Auchi as at 11th November 2008 when he took over as governor of Edo State, was not in any state of completion particularly with regards to the equipments and other facilities.
Let me refresh the memory of Adams Oshiomhole that after nearly 9 years of neglecting Edo fertilizer plant built by Chief Lucky Igbinedion, Mr Uche Orji, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Sovereign Wealth Fund in January, 2017 when he accompanied Governor Obaseki and investors to the plant said *”with this type of facility in the state, Edo State have been missing lots of opportunities with a factory like this. Once the governor and the investors (WACOT) have agreed, I don’t think it will take too long to get this plant running”*, he added. Mr Uche Orji went further to state that *”their objective, is to put raw materials into this plant and have it to start working”*.
Doesn’t this very honest declaration and clarification coming from the MD of Nigerian Sovereign wealth fund vindicate the PDP, that the fertilizer plant was fully completed with state of the art equipment?
Edo people are shocked and amazed that the Godwin Obaseki administration falsely claim a N2Billion investment in a factory that requires only raw materials and perhaps a facelift or renovation as Mr Orji had unequivocally stated.
We thank Mr. Orji for helping Edo people expose another pot of lies by the APC.
The good people of Edo State find this statement not only mischievous, erroneous and misleading but also a failed deliberate ploy to toy with our collective intelligence.
If Mr. Orji wasn’t convinced with the kind of equipment he saw on ground, would he have said “Edo has been missing lots of opportunities”?
Just like the abandoned 5 star Central hospital, this is another avenue to use the fertilizer plant as a conduit pipe to siphon the already depleted treasury which has been looted to her knees.
I equally advice Governor Obaseki to resuscitate the moribund industries scattered all over the state due to years of gross neglect by Adams Oshiomhole in which Obaseki served for good eight years as the Head of economic team. Institutions like Uromi Cassavita factory in Edo Central, Ehor Pineapple Juice factory in Edo South should be revived, but not as a conduit pipe on which our collective patrimony will be sacrificed.
We gladly welcome the Vice President Osibanjo as he commissions this great and economically viable entity initiated by the Lucky Igbinedion’s administration.
