In her opening remarks, Dr. Mrs. Atiku said she decided to interact with the women because of the key roles they play in family and nation building, adding that women remain the bedrock of any society.

Jennifer Atiku, appealed to Edo women to vote en mass for PDP, stressing that the highest votes from elections conducted in recent times, according to INEC comes from Nigerian women.

“Several administrations before now have promised a certain percentage to Nigerian women before getting into office, knowing fully well that we constitute a larger percentage of the voting population. Let me use this medium to assure you all that my husband will do more to engage a lot of women when finally elected into office”, she hinted.

According to her, she said, she has known Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for 35 years and been married to him for over 21 years, hence her confident that her husband is the kind of President Nigerians needs at the moment to rescue the nation.

During the three hour long event, Dr. Jennifer Atiku with other contributors, however, spoke on restructuring, security, adequate healthcare, women empowerment, care for the aged, food prices and food security, women in agriculture and the fulani herdsmen debacle, poverty and a host of others issues.

Consequently, the DG of Edo state presidential campaign council, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, he said PDP has over the years given Edo women sufficient space in the political arena. He encouraged Women not to go to their respective polling units alone, but before then charged them to be more involved in rigorous mobilization, canvassing for voters in their home, church, market places.

Also speaking at the town hall meeting, Chief Dan Orbih, advised women to ensure they mobilize massively for the PDP, while defending and securing their vote.

While commending Atiku’s wife for visiting the IDP camp at Uhogua situated in Ovia Northeast LGA, with relief materials. According to Orbih, he reminded Dr. Jennifer Atiku to intimate her husband that relief materials shouldn’t just be provided to IDP camps alone but be distributed across the entire country because there is hunger in the land.
