Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Sam Uhuotu, on Wednesday denied the report on the adoption of any aspirant for the post of the national publicity secretary of the party by the leadership of the party in the state. Said any aspirant who claimed he has been endorsed by the State executive of the party is telling lies.
According to him, “the purported endorsement of an aspirant being speculated on social media by one Austin Okai was aimed at causing internal crisis in the party ahead of December 9, national convention.”
Uhuotu added that the party “cannot afford to field a candidate with tons of albatross for the 2017 PDP convention”
While addressing journalists in Abuja, the State PDP chairman said the national executive has said that whoever will emerge for any of the office of the party will be the decision of the people.
“If anyone says the State executive has endorsed him, that is the greatest lie. That is blatant lie”.
He also advised aspirants of the party with questionable character to stay off the track. Adding that the PDP will ensure only the best and professional who can rebuild the image of the Party.
“Whoever will emerge as the National Publicity secretary of the PDP from a state like kogi must reflect the future we are looking at. I am telling you that any aspirant with a questionable character should stay off. We need a National publicity secretary with sound education, respectable, responsible, acceptable, right experience with a pedigree in manageable of people and resources and marketable”.
“The issue of adopting a common position in the party is a serious action that must take due cognizance of every tendency within the party”.
The statement therefore maintained that no one has been endorsed within the PDP in the Kogi State.
