Care About Climate Holds Maiden Symposium In Benin

CARE About Climate, a United States of America based NGO which seeks to create awareness for a greener environment has ended her maiden  sensitization and interactive session in Benin City, the Edo state capital.

The event’s theme was “A Good Environment A Tool For Sustainable Development With Special Focus On Plastic And Sachet Water Waste” had the Edo state commissioner for environment and sustainability Hon. Reginald Okun, sending a represenative, Mr. Edward Uwugiaren.

The convener and Project director of Care about climate Mr. Irughe R. Iyobosa in an address of welcome gave an update of the aims, objectives and mission of Care About Climate in Nigeria, and her achievements to date.

The  resource person, Mr. Bright Erhunmwenbibi who spoke extensively about converting waste into wealth, by selling it and getting paid added that “We as a people should change our attitude and do the right thing by disposing our waste properly, while planting trees in our places of residence in other to have a greener environment”.

He advised participants to carry this message to their respective homes, offices and communities.

Other dignitaries present at the event such as Deputy State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), An agro-business tycoon, Mrs. Agho P Blessing, A disaster manager/Red crosser Dr. Daniel Enowoghomwenma, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Edo State Chapter Chairman and his Deputy, Mr.. Innocent Ajayi and Mr. Micheal Omomila respectively, all gave goodwill  messages as well.

They were all in agreement with the resource person’s position that all hands to be on deck in ensuring our environment is greener.

The event had a Question and Answer session as participants took almost two hours to engage the resource person and other panelist with incisive questions.

The program came to a climax with a vote of thanks by the secretary Mr. Daniel Okporokpor and closing prayers by Mr. Osazemen Aghedo, after which the National Anthem was recited.

As a committed NGO, indications are that the NGO will continue to contribute her quota in ensuring that human environment is catered for and sustained through constant sensitization programs.
